“A story of inspiration”
MCT Works is owned and run by me, Matt, a multi-talented tradesman – with traditional values, and modern techniques.
Formerly trained as a joiner after leaving college, I begun working as a cabinet maker, producing very high quality bespoke items of furniture. The recession took its toll and I had a slight change of career, still working with wood but as a tree surgeon. I loved the job but it was frustrating that the customers requests were not always what was best for the health of the tree. This set me on the path of gaining my IRATA rope access qualifications to continue climbing, alongside gaining various other skills and learning new trades.
I have a passion for learning new skills and having always helped my father renovate various properties and completing my own home, my hobbies of building, electrics and creating bespoke installations (wood or metal) soon became my bread and butter.
One day I’d like to qualify as a mechanical engineer and be able to expand my machinery, using it for more than just my hobbies!
I do undertake commissions and regularly craft bespoke items. Please take a look on my Only Bespoke page and get in touch if you have a commission request!
I pride myself on the ability to not only deliver a superior product, but to specialise in understanding your project, which allows me to suggest areas for improvement and enhance your initial ideas and thoughts. Since there is only one of me, and I have various trades under my belt, I may at times employ trusted third-party trades to work alongside me to complete the project.
Based in Wethersfield, Essex, I provide services local to Braintree, Chelmsford, Witham, Brentwood and the surrounding Essex areas plus London and the South East. However, if you’re willing to pay, I will travel all of the UK!
